Bedhampton Gyratory Improvement Works

Description of Works
The junction improvement works at the Bedhampton Gyratory, also known as the Rusty Cutter Roundabout, are due to commence on the 18 October 2010 and take approximately 9 months. The scheme will enable the development of the nearby Harts Farm Way site. It will also improve peak hour traffic flows through the roundabout. The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), Hampshire County Council and Havant Borough Council are working jointly on this project, and appointed Dyer & Butler Ltd as contractor.
The improvements include the introduction of traffic signal control onto the A3(M) and A27 off-slip roads at their junction with the roundabout, new lanes to increase the traffic capacity on the roundabout, an additional lane on the A3(M) South bound off-slip road and an additional East bound only lane on the link to the A27 junction. In addition to the highway works, significant improvements will be made to the footway / cycleway to create a shared route linking to the existing cycle network.
