Description
Biggin Hill Airport is situated approx 15 miles to the South East of Central London and therefore provides ideal facilities for the private aircraft market. It is currently the biggest receiver of private jets in the UK.
Due to ever increasing demands on apron space the airport appointed Jacobs to design and oversee the construction of 13,000m2 of new pavement and earth works for future hangar development
Site works commenced immediately after the Christmas break for a programme duration of 12 weeks. The 10,000m3 of excavated material was placed on site as part of the permanent construction works for the future hangar and car park development.
In addition to the pavement, works included surface water drainage, interceptor installation and pit construction.
The 12,000m2 of pavement consisting of 40mm of surfacing course and 60mm of binder course commenced in early March and was completed on programme just after the Easter break.
