The company is meeting the needs of the environment by providing sustainable solutions today and are proud to hold the much sought after UVDB Verify accreditation from Achilles, reflecting the highest standards of performance in environmental planning, performance and measurement across the whole organisation.
Key features of Dyer & Butler’s commitment to sustainability include:
- A ‘local’ workforce, spread across the south of the UK, which allows us to cut down on unnecessary commuting to site.
- We ensure workers who live near each other travel to site together in one vehicle.
- Use of sustainable locally sourced materials wherever possible
- Use of recycled materials wherever possible - such as Pulverised Bottom Ash from waste to energy recycling plants
- Recycling of materials on site - using crushers to grade excavated materials that can then be used as backfill or hardcore
- All sites operate Site Waste Management Plans
- We trial the use of new technologies and solutions such as the use of solar powered welfare units as opposed to the standard diesel units
- Noise, dust and vibration monitoring and minimisation
- Pollution prevention and training for all site operatives
- Constant communication with local residents, businesses and other stakeholders
- Training of site operatives to minimise our interference on bats, newts, nesting birds, Japanese Knotweed etc.
- Reporting & appreciation of Environmental Incidents at the highest level within the company
