Ewenny River Flood Wall
Client

Main Contractor
Dyer & Butler
Duration
1 Month
Location
Ewenny River, Pencoed
Office Responsible
Swansea
Description
The works involved the reinforcement of an existing flood defence wall by surrounding the existing concrete block wall in a reinforced concrete 'skin'.
The site was located adjacent to the River Ewenny in Pencoed near Bridgend. Access was extremely limited via a narrow unmade lane, preventing the use of normal construction plant and concrete wagons.
In addition to the usual Health & Safety considerations of a normal project, there were significant Environmental aspects to consider with the close proximity of the river and residential properties and a weak stone bridge.
The works were completed within the 4 week programme and to the tender budget
