Parking Express
The works comprised drainage improvements to the car park areas to reduce incidence of flooding with associated reinstatement and resurfacing works. The extensive drainage systems included drainage channels, petrol interceptors, soakaways and Stormcell storage systems which were connected into existing storm water drainage within the existing car park.
Works were within the very busy Parking Express Car Park near the Northern Perimeter Road, which is one of the main access routes into Heathrow Airport. The Car Park remained in operation throughout the works and restricted working areas and phasing of the works were agreed with the Car Park Operator.
There were numerous challenges which were overcome by our site team including:
- A high concentration of high and low voltage electricity cables which were located and worked around during the construction of the project.
- The managing of public, airport and other contractor vehicles movements throughout the project.
- The development of a robust scheme to deal with significant pedestrian movements.
- Constructing the works with Limited storage and lay-down areas for materials, equipment and plant.
