We understand that the work we undertake has an impact on local communities and the far reaching public. Therefore, our project teams will work closely with local communities in advance of any work commencement as well as during, to keep them fully informed of all issues which might affect them. This is often done through local radio, newspaper or installing a Scheme Notice Board at an agreed location which is consistently updated. Where possible, work is always scheduled to avoid inconvenience; however, there are occasions when emergency repairs are needed to ensure road, air and water based traffic resumes safely to pre-emergency levels.
Having a locally based labour force is something Dyer & Butler actively pursues; this provides significant benefits for communicating the news of planned works and emergency repairs. This, alongside our pursuit for locally sourced materials, has also helped us build an enviable record of delivering projects that harmonise with communities wherever we work. This approach allows us to create opportunities and to engage with local groups and individuals who are directly affected by our project work. It also provides the opportunity to add value for the local community and our customers by developing a more caring view of infrastructure assets.
Our Commitment to Education and Employment
Dyer & Butler is deeply committed to educating and aiding those who aspire to work in the construction industry. Our interaction with those in local schools and colleges enables us to provide the necessary help and information to help make their aspirations become a reality.
We work closely with students and graduates to discuss and advise on the different career opportunities available in the construction industry, and we are able to organise visits to construction sites (whilst always keeping health and safety in mind) that are of particular interest. We offer a range of opportunities to help younger people achieve their goals; these include graduate training programmes, work experience and apprenticeships. We also work with charities and government agencies to provide employment opportunities to young offenders, care leavers and ex-military personnel.
Aside from providing help with careers, we are extremely passionate and dedicated to educating children about the dangers of construction sites, therefore we are able to visit local schools to give talks and raise awareness.
