I had a great time, I didn’t want to go back to university
Why Dyer & Butler?
The Dyer & Butler placement was a great opportunity to gain experience within the Airport sector at one of the most important sites in the world – Heathrow. It was also a contractor role which meant I was on site and gaining practical experience in the real world.
Outline of position and responsibilities
In the beginning I was managing a small team – managing their workload, permits, ordering plant and materials and providing costings for completed jobs. Further down the line, I got the opportunity to become involved with managing planned maintenance work. This additional responsibility gave me the chance to become more involved with clients, scoping, pricing, writing RAMS and daily planning. I also got the chance to go out on nights and meet our guys at work, which put everything into perspective.
The best bit
Every day was a high point, it was fast paced, dynamic and challenging but I loved it.
I won the GE Undergraduate of the Year Award, which was based on my work on the resin injection geotech project at Heathrow.
Career opportunities and how have Dyer & Butler enhanced your career for the long term?

Dyer & Butler also helped me to develop other vital skills – including my interpersonal and communication skills, ability to retaining information, presentation skills and the capacity to work under pressure.
