Dyer & Butler completes partial airfield taxiway resurfacing at London Gatwick
Recently, our Gatwick team resurfaced two areas of the airfield taxiway network, while reducing the impact to daily operations at London Gatwick.
To make sure the airfield lasts for many years to come, we completed 1000m2 of resurfacing. Working collaboratively with London Gatwick, our team found an effective approach to deliver works with minimal disruption to people’s journeys across a nighttime closure.
We resurfaced the taxiway areas, using the market-leading EME2 asphalt surfacing material suitable for the high aircraft traffic in the areas. Our team completed the resurfacing over one night, working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across the airfield to maximise the working window, whilst minimising disruption to airfield operations and the travelling public.
Simon Wright, Operations Manager at Dyer & Butler, said: “We’re proud to continue to deliver airside improvements for our longstanding client, London Gatwick.
“Collaboration is key when completing works such as resurfacing, with several moving parts, and a short window of operation. Working with our client and our supply chain, our team was able to use its expertise to deliver these works on time and within budget, supporting safer, greener journeys from the airport for years to come.”
