Across M Group Services, we are passionate about supporting the Ex-Armed Forces community

As part of our commitment, we were delighted to partner with Veterans in Action, by inviting Ex-Armed Forces personnel to film our project works on the Highover Bridge project, in Longparish, Andover.

Veterans in Action is a UK based charity that helps veterans who have suffered the effects of war or have found the transition to civilian life difficult. It offers several projects to improve the mental, physical and social wellbeing of veterans through participation on long-term projects.

Working with Veterans in Action, we invited six members of the Ex-Armed Forces community to our site to film the bridge restoration works being carried out. The filming took place over three days and provided an opportunity to further enhance the ‘Veterans in Focus’ filming division, developing their filming skills, learning to operate a drone and providing a space connect with each other and members of our team.

As well as enhancing their filming skills on site, the team also produced multiple edits, further developing their editing skills.

Our operatives began construction on the Highover Bridge project, on behalf of National Highways Historic Rail Estate (HRE) in June 2024, with work completed in September 2024.

The historic bridge is continuously used for farm traffic and members of the public, but due to old age, repair work was vital to protect the structure.

Nathan Thomas, Business Support Coordinator at Dyer & Butler, said: We are thrilled with the video created by Veterans in Action Team. The opportunity was very rewarding for myself and our Design Manager, Owen Jones, who worked closely with the team. It’s been great to support such a fantastic charity that supports ex-Armed Forces and giving them an opportunity to connect and further develop their filming skills. They’ve done such an amazing job allowing us to show off the great work our Historical Structures team has done on this bridge.”

We would like to thank everyone who played a part in creating the video and we look forward to continuing to support Veterans in Action.
