As part of the CAPEX CP5 Project, Dyer & Butler were tasked with the enhancement and maintenance of various assets in the Sussex region. Within this project Dyer & Butler carried out repairs and repainting works to 17 no. canopy structures. The project team stripped and refurbished all dilapidated components before repainting each canopy with a complete recoat.

By using site specific traffic management plans and Work Package Plans each site could be easily managed and paperwork tailored to the constraints of each local area.

By using effective segregation and communication methods we effectively controlled the flow of the public around the work areas and worked safely by setting up barriered exclusion zones.

By working with the Train Operating Companies (TOCs), Dyer & Butler planned the works in-line with the TOCs requirements and train schedules.

Collaboration with the client and the TOCs on site was essential to the successful delivery of the works.

The project programme was at the heart of this key process. By continually updating the programme and monitoring progress, our site team could make key decisions based on the constraints found. The client and TOCs were kept informed regarding progress via regular communication almost on a daily basis.

The project was completed on time and to budget, which was down to the collaborative way that Network Rail, the TOCs and our project team have approached the planning and execution of the works at each station.

To reduce our carbon footprint, specialist local contractors were used to supplement our directly employed specialist painting team.
