Dyer & Butler Appointed to Somerset County Council Highways Framework

Dyer & Butler has been appointed to a four-year framework agreement for the provision of works to highways structures (major works) within the Somerset County Council administrative area.

The framework agreement for the repair, maintenance and improvement of structures major works will cover both highway structural work and highway rights of way areas.

Dyer & Butler Highways Director, Simon White, commented: “We are very pleased to have been appointed to this key highways structures framework. We look forward to bringing our experience and expertise in delivering essential infrastructure services and working with Somerset County Council to deliver this important programme of works over the next four years.”

The estimated spend per annum through the framework is expected to be in the region of £2m to £3m with an overall framework agreement limit of £15m. Work under the framework will be awarded as a result of running further competitions as set out in the conditions of contract.

The framework agreement will comprise the following work types:

  • Urgent traffic management
  • Masonry bridge and retaining wall repairs
  • Structural concrete repairs
  • Minor parapet repairs (masonry, steel or timber)
  • Cyclic maintenance activities, vegetation removal etc.
  • Bridge waterproofing
  • Minor and major bridge reconstruction
  • Retaining wall reconstruction
  • Geotechnical engineering and earth retaining structures
  • Footbridge refurbishment
  • Drainage works
  • Working in water and temporary watercourse management
  • Carriageway and footpath resurfacing
